WHAT is the acrid smell hanging over part of Southampton?
That’s the question being asked by residents this morning as the pungent pong hangs over much of Hampshire, with people reporting the smell in Millbrook and Redbridge in Southampton.
The cause of the chemical-type stink is still a mystery, with the firm which runs the incinerator at Marchwood saying it could not have come from the site.
Marchwood Incinerator bosses have ruled out the site as the cause of the smell
A spokesman for Veolia said the plant was “operating normally”, and that a negative pressure system in place at the site would prevent any odour coming from the giant incinerator.
Some residents in Millbrook Road West have said they have closed all their windows to keep the "horrendous" smell out.
Have you smelt the mystery pong or do you have any idea what it might be?
