A MAN who died following a fight in Fawley at the weekend has today been named as Indian national Gregory Kiran Fernandes.
A murder investigation was launched after Mr Fernandes became the victim of an unprovoked attack by a group of up to 20-youths - including a 14-year-old boy - outside a hotel in the village.
A passer-by helped the 32-year-old sailor back to where his ship was moored but as they arrived he suddenly collapsed and died.
Mr Fernandes, pictured, from Goa, had just left The Falcon Hotel in Fawley with a 29-year-old colleague when he was approached by a gang of up to 20 youths aged between 13 and 20.
Members of the gang are then thought to have attacked the two men as they walked along Church Lane.
Mr Fernandes had arrived at Fawley the previous day aboard the cargo ship Garonne.
A post-mortem into his death has already been conducted but the results were inconclusive and further tests are now due to be carried out.
Police arrested a 14-year-old boy along with two 17-year-old men and questioned them over the incident, but the youngsters have now been released on police bail until January.
Meanwhile officers are today continuing door-to-door enquiries and will be speaking to other young people in the area.
Detectives have also urged anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident, which happened on Saturday October 20 between 9pm and 10pm near The Square, should contact the Operation Razban incident room on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
