A PUBLIC meeting will be held to discuss yobs in a Hampshire village where a foreign sailor died after a race-hate gang attack.
Fawley residents say that the parish is being blighted by vandalism, late-night disturbances and foul language - partly because of the ease with which under-age drinkers are able to obtain alcohol.
People living in Church Lane and other trouble spots took their complaints to a meeting of Fawley Parish Council's amenities committee.
It follows the death of Indian sailor Gregory Fernandes who was walking along Church Lane on October 20 when he and a friend were attacked by a group of 20 youths.
A passer-by intervened and took Mr Fernandes back to Fawley oil refinery, where his ship was moored, but he collapsed and died.
A post-mortem examination proved inconclusive and further tests are being carried out on his body in a bid to establish the cause of death.
Police say that the incident was racially motivated. Several teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail, pending further inquiries.
The public meeting will be held at the Jubilee Hall on Wednesday, November 14, starting at 7pm.
