FROM The Jam, featuring former The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton, legendary vocalist & guitarist Russell Hastings and drummer Mike Randon will be at The Engine Rooms on the 30th of April as part of their legendary “The Public Gets What The Public Wants” Tour.
The Jam exploded onto the punk scene in 1977 delivering their ferocious mission statement - debut single ‘In The City’. With a catalogue that includes 18 UK Top 40 singles The Jam became the sound of The British youth and one of the greatest and biggest selling bands in British history. In 2000, Q magazine placed The Jam’s third album ‘All Mod Cons’ at Number 50 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever.
Bruce and Russell Hastings are returning to the studio to record a new album titled ‘Smash The Clock’ for release April 22. The news was announced on crowdfunding site PledgeMusic, with Bruce saying “The initial demos are sounding great and Russ & I can’t wait to start recording in early January. As on the last album (Back In The Room) we will have a few guest appearances, which we’re really excited about.”
From The Jam have gained a reputation for the kind of incendiary ‘live’ performances that sealed the reputation of The Jam all those years ago. Those attending the Public Gets What The Public Wants Tour can expect to hear classic The Jam hits such as Down In The Tube Station At Midnight, Going Underground, Town Called Malice and The Modern World as well as some live favourites and songs from Bruce’s solo career.
“There may never be a Jam reunion but it’s reassuring to see someone as talented and passionate as Bruce Foxton being able to take these wonderful old songs out on the road and communicate so successfully with this Modern World” LouderThanWar
