SO he rather hijacked his son’s fledgling rap career.
But I guess he can be forgiven for the leg up the ladder in the movies – and being such a good sport.
In case there’s any chance you haven’t seen it – almost the entire universe has seemingly watched the clip back on YouTube – Will Smith appeared on The Graham Norton Show with teenage son Jaden to promote their new movie After Earth.
But, after Jaden showed off his skills on the mic, came an almighty finale from Dad which rather blew his efforts out of the water.
Big Willie, as he’s known in Hollywood, introduced first his former DJ sidekick Jazzy Jeff, fresh from an appearance at Southampton’s Junk club, to belt out the signature tune to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
And then he was joined by co-star Alfonso Ribeiro, who played his cousin Carlton in the cult series, for a spot of trademark dancing.
It just shows why he’s one of the most likeable A listers on the planet.
I mean, this is the star of such huge hits as Men In Black, Bad Boys, I Am Legend and Independence Day.
He’s won four Grammys and been nominated for Golden Globes and Academy Awards, as well as being described as the most powerful actor in Hollywood.
And he’s quite happy to go back to his roots.
I can’t see Kylie Minogue donning her dungarees to return to the role of Charlene in Neighbours, Catherine Zeta Jones going all retro on us in Darling Buds of May or the likes of Justin Timberlake or Ryan Gosling doing Disney again. Good for him.
It’s been almost 17 years since the Fresh Prince, but I’ve never forgotten young William ‘chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool’.
I’m glad he hasn’t either.
