NESTLED in the New Forest’s leafy Emery Down, the New Forest Inn attracts people from all walks of life.
The pub can trace its roots back to the 18th century as a caravan that settled in the New Forest, near Lyndhurst and eventually turned into the pub it is today.
Two real log fires greet patrons and the dog friendly pub offers a selection of local ales as well.
The pub’s current owners are husband and wife Duane and Debbie Lewis, who believe a combination of friendly staff and quality food bring in a wide variety of people.
Mrs Lewis, 55, said: “The atmosphere is amazing – we have millionaires sitting next to tractor drivers but everyone knows each other.
“We get people come as far as Bournemouth, the other side of Southampton and all over the New Forest.
“The food is all freshly made and we have got excellent chefs – the staff are also really friendly and they work well together.”
Jonathan Mason, 51, from Ringwood works behind the bar and said: “I find working here really good, the quality of food is excellent and the way they conduct their business is brilliant.
“I love being part of the team, it is really exciting – I come from a pub and hospitality background and this is the best place I have worked.”
One of the pubs many draws is its idyllic location in the heart of the countryside, which often sees everything from horses, cattle and pigs passing by its front door.
And the pub itself has strong links to the area as they regularly hold hunt meetings there.
For those not wanting to leave, they offer four bed and breakfast rooms in the pub which is one of four public houses in Hampshire owned by Debbie and Duane.
The New Forest Inn is also passionate about fundraising and over the years has raised thousands for charity through events at the pub and sponsored challenges.
