Katherine Kelly has signed up to play the mother of a missing child in new ITV drama The Guilty.
The star of Coronation Street and Mr Selfridge will appear alongside comedy stars Spy's Darren Boyd and Episodes' Tamsin Grieg, in a dark three-part drama about the disappearance of a young boy who has been missing for five years.
Katherine and Darren will play Claire and Daniel Reid, the parents of Callum, who disappeared aged five during a neighbourhood barbecue that turned nasty in 2008. Tamsin will play DCI Maggie Brand who is investigating the case.
The drama is spilt between the day of the disappearance - when a relaxed summer's day transformed into an ugly, violent scene between neighbours - and the present day when Callum's body is discovered.
DCI Brand - who had to withdraw from the original investigation following severe morning sickness - is determined to solve the murder.
Written by Silk's Debbie O'Malley and directed by Ed Bazalgette, who has worked on ITV drama Endeavour, The Guilty is being produced by the same team behind hit BBC show Sherlock.
Filming has already begun and will continue throughout April and May.
