A LORRY driver had to be cut free from his cab after he was involved in a head on crash with a school bus.
Emergency services battled to cut the 45-year-old man from Essex from his articulated lorry following the collision with the coach at West Tytherley, on the Hampshire / Wiltshire border.
The crash happened after 8am this morning.
It is unclear whether the bus, which was empty, had just dropped of children at a nearby school or was on its way to collect passengers.
The lorry driver was due to be taken to Salisbury District Hospital, with pelvic injuries that are not thought to be serious – he was treated by medics at the scene, on The Warren, opposite Warren Farm.
The driver of the coach was shaken but uninjured.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service had two crews from Romsey and one crew from Stockbridge at the scene to cut the injured man free.
The road is currently blocked and police say the road is likely to remain closed for the next two hours for recovery of the two vehicles.
