THE Hampshire man known as The Naked Rambler appeared briefly in court yesterday accused of defying a legal ruling ordering him to wear clothing in public.
Stephen Gough stood at Southampton Crown Court wearing only a hat accused of breaching an anti social behaviour order (ASBO) placed on him requiring him to cover up.
Gough, 53, of Chamberlayne Road, Eastleigh, who spoke only to confirm his name, was remanded in custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Monday, April 22 for plea and case management.
Gough was arrested on Thursday, February 28, soon after strolling out of Southampton Magistrates’ Court in the nude after they handed him the ASBO.
The former Royal Marine, who has been constantly in and out of jail since 2006 for trekking across the country in the nude, could face up to five years in jail if found guilty.
