HUNDREDS of people filled the streets of a Hampshire village as it celebrated its 36th annual carnival with the best ever attendance and highest number of floats.
Scores more were taking part in the colourful Fair Oak and Horton Heath carnival grand parade which featured local groups and schools in four floats and nine trailers.
Carnival princesses Christiana Adams and Cream Panpradab Mvenprom led the procession, involving more than 480 people, as it moved to New Century Park where more than 2,000 people attended the carnival fete.
Fair Oak Junior School won overall with its “Jolly Roger” theme.
St Thomas Church in Fair Oak won the Roma Burgess Community Award for its floats depicting each 50-year milestone of its 150-year history.
Organised by the Fair Oak and Horton Heath Parish Council, the carnival raises money for local good causes.
Parish clerk Linda Greenslade said: “It went really well and was one of the best we have had in a long time.”
