THE wet and wild Great Waterside Raft Race was back today for more spills and thrills.
The fun-filled contest was held in the comparatively calm water between Hythe Marina Village and the 2,100ft pier that juts into Southampton Water.
Crews dressed as cops and robbers, princesses, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs took to the sea in crafts with names such as The Red Devils.
Meanwhile RNLI lifeboat playfully sprayed the teams with water as they battled their way around the rectangular course, cheered on by a huge crowd lining the sea wall - who lobbed water bombs at passing boats.
Held in aid of the RNLI, the Daily Echo-backed event attracted a wide variety of vessels, some more seaworthy than others.
