THE man who died on board a luxury Southampton-based cruise ship is believed to have been a 23-year-old deckhand from the Philippines.
The Daily Echo understands that the man, who has not been named, died of natural causes on board the Cunard ship Queen Victoria.
As previously reported, the ship’s captain announced the tragedy during his midday update as the vessel, which set sail from Southampton in September, was making its way to Palma, Majorca.
The liner is in the middle of a 24-day Black Sea and Turkish Splendours voyage taking in destinations including Lisbon, Malta, Kusadasi, Istanbul and Odessa.
A Cunard spokesman has said only that the crew member’s friends, family and colleagues are being supported.
Queen Victoria is stoppng in Vigo, Spain before returning to Southampton on October 24.
