A luxury yacht at the centre of a major fire drama has now sunk.
Firefighters yesterday spent hours battling the blaze at East Cowes Marina on the River Medina.
Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said the fire which started at about 1pm was under control by about 8pm last night.
But over night the boat at the centre of the blaze has now sunk.
The fire service advised residents to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke and want people to stay away from the area.
Justin Harden, Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service incident commander, said: “We are working with a number of partner agencies, including the Environment Agency which is managing the environmental impact of the fire.”
