IT WAS the wedding millions of fans have been waiting for.
Batman and Catwoman tied the knot in Southampton yesterday to cheers from a host of their superhero friends.
It was the themed-wedding of Rico Clay and Dawn Bryant- Jeffries, who convinced their friends and family to dress up for their big day at Southampton Register Office.
Mr Clay said: “It was both our second weddings and we both have young kids so we thought it would be nice to get them involved.
“Originally we thought about taking them to Gretna Green and just having a close family thing but then all our friends said they wanted to be there.
“Then at New Year’s we had this drunken idea to come in fancy dress and it all snowballed from there.”
“But I would definitely call myself the caped crusader of Southampton,” the 38-year-old delivery driver joked.
Dawn, 40, who works in telesales, added: “We have four children between us and we thought this was a nice touch.
“Everyone was really happy about it and so many different ideas came in about costumes.
“We are just so happy to be married.
“It is the three-year anniversary since our first date which is why we chose to do it today.
“We are best friends and could not be happier.”
The Chandler’s Ford couple’s children Lewis, 12, Hannah, 11, Ben, eight, and Sam, seven, looked equally as impressive as Robin, a mini- Catwoman and two Spider-Men.
But you couldn’t have blamed the groom for feeling pre-wedding nerves when father-in-law William Smith turned up as The Joker.
The wedding party, which also featured Superman, Wonder Woman, The Riddler and even Darth Vader, then celebrated at the reception at the nearby Dolphin Hotel.
Now the super couple will take a well-earned break from crime-fighting to go on their honeymoon in Venice.
