FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a van fire involving gas cylinders on a residential street.
Crews from Eastleigh and Romsey are currently tackling the blaze on St Christopher's Close, just off Rownhams Lane in North Baddesley.
They were called to the scene at 11.23am this morning and had the flames out by 12.45pm.
It is understood the van contained gas cylinders, which caused the large blaze.
It is believed that three house have been evacuated as a result of the fire.
One of the residents removed from their homes was Mrs Love.
She said: "We live opposite to where it happened. I was at the kitchen sink preparing some vegetables and I could see flames through the hedge rows.
"Then my next door neighbours and I were told to get out of our homes in case the van exploded.
"There were quite a few pops but nothing huge. It was very dramatic there was a big pool of flames and black smoke."
There is currently a cordon on the road stopping anyone from getting too near to the vehicle, which is BT Openreach van.
The fire is not being treated a suspicious at this moment in time.
Firefighters are continuing the to douse the wreckage, which will see Rownhams Lane closed at the junction with Rownhams Road, until at least 1.30pm.
The only injury was a minor one suffered by a firefighter as she tackled the blaze.
