Police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl whose body has been found at a Hampshire beauty spot.
The body of Ashli Blake, a pupil at The Burgate School in Fordingbridge, was discovered at the Eyre Coote Monument, near Rockbourne, yesterday morning.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out on Wednesday but police say they are not treating her death as suspicious.
A police spokesman said: “We can confirm police received a call during the early hours of Sunday morning about the death of a teenage girl.
“Her body was found near Sir Eyre Coote Monument by a member of the public.
“Detectives are not treating the death as suspicious.
“We're in the process of contacting next-of-kin and completing formal identification. A file for HM Coroner is being prepared.”
The Burgate School has paid tribute to Ashli, who lived at Alderholt.
A school spokesman said: “We are shocked and saddened to hear the tragic news that one of our Year 11 students has died.
“Ashli Blake was an absolutely delightful, caring and mature young lady. She was working hard at school and was very well regarded and respected by staff and students alike.
“The school is pulling together as a community and supporting each other. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ashli's family at this most difficult time.”
