MOTORISTS were stuck in miles of tailbacks after a lorry blaze brought a busy Hamsphire road to a standstill.
The lorry caught fire in a lay-by on the westbound carriageway of the A31 between the Shobley and Linford exit and the A338 turn off last night
The driver, a 40-year-old man, was taken to hospital, following the incident.
Emergency services were called to the scene but traffic was immediately effected with queues forming past Picket Post and later on to the M27.
No one was injured in the incident but recovery of the vehicle is expected to take several hours.
The lay-by is also expected to remin shut until later today.
