PLANS to build 40 homes on the site of a former school building will go before councillors in Southampton.

The former Oasis Academy Mayfield annexe off Portchester Road had been used as a council storage site until recently.

The city council put forward outline plans for 40 homes at the site last year, so that it could be marketed for a developer to come forward and buy the site.

The proposals contain plans for 17 one-bedroom, ten two-bedroom and ten three-bedroom homes on the site with a variety of car parking spaces, although the make-up of the site could change if a developer bids for full planning permission.

Fifteen objections have been made with some residents saying it could lead to increased traffic and overdevelopment of the site.

The city council’s planning and rights of way panel will make a decision on the application at a meeting on Tuesday.
