A CAR has been completely destroyed in a blaze.

The vehicle was down in a car park on the foreshore at Hill Head, near Fareham and the driver was out of the Vauxhall Zafira when he noticed smoke coming from the bonnet and called emergency services.

A crew from Fareham attended but by that time the car was well alight and fuel was leaking from underneath making it more difficult to put the flames out, which took around an hour.

They put it out using a hose and a foam jet after the alarm was raised at 7.30pm last night .
