A CAR FIRE and a broken down lorry are causing long delays on a major road this mornining.
Traffic is queuing on the eastbound A31 following the incident at Poulner Hill near Picket Post.
Drivers are reporting delays of up to 45 minutes.
Motorists are faced with 'stop-start' traffic from Verwood as a result of the fire, reported earlier this morning, and the lorry is slightly further along the road.
One lane is blocked.
However, a spokesperson from the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called out to a car on fire.
She said the fire was small and quickly extinguished by firefighters.
One lane of the road was blocked as the stretch has no hard shoulder.
However, a two-car crash was later reported on the northbound carriageway of the A338 Spur Road heading out of Bournemouth, adding to the woes of motorists heading towards the New Forest and Southampton.
