A CAR fire is causing chaos on a major Hampshire road.
Firefighters are dealing with the vehicle, which is on the slip road leading from the M3 southbound junction 14 onto The Avenue towards Southampton.
The car fire was called in to emergency services by the driver who got out of the vehicle at around 6.40pm.
Highways England closed both lanes of the slip road while firefighters were tackling the blaze.
A crew from Eastleigh has now put out the flames using a compressed foam jet but motorists say traffic is still at a standstill on the slip road with one witness saying drivers had got out of their cars.
Highways England who are dealing with the incident said that one lane had re-opened and the other would remain closed while they assess any damage to the carriageway.
No-one has been hurt or rescued from the vehicle.
