POLICE have confirmed they are investigating after a man was found defecating in a Southampton cemetery.
Officers are conducting inquiries to find the man, who was spotted by a family visiting the graves of several relatives at St Mary Extra Cemetery in Butts Road.
As reported by the Daily Echo, Wildern School student Millie Ings, 15, was visiting the cemetery – where several members of her family including grandfather Nelson Scott are buried – with her aunt and grandmother.
However as they left the cemetery they spotted the man with his trousers around his ankles, defecating in a hedgerow at the cemetery.
Intending to report him to the police, she took pictures on her phone, at which point she says he swore at her.
Community leaders have backed the investigation, with Southampton Itchen MP Royston Smith calling it “unacceptable behaviour that cannot be tolerated”.
Anyone with information is urged to call the force on 101.
