PROTESTERS took to the streets to stage a demonstration outside a Southampton Buddhist centre.
The supporters of the Dalai Lama of Tibet gathered outside the Thekchen New Kadampa Tradition (NKT) Buddhist Centre in Bitterne to make their views felt over a ‘campaign’ the group is carrying out.
The group, which consists of Tibetans and former NKT members, says the New Kadampas have created a political front group called the International Shugden Community to criticise the Dalai Lama when he travels to the western world.
Protesters held up banners on Sunday afternoon urging the New Kadampa Buddhists to ‘Stop Stalking the Dalai Lama’ and ‘Stop Spreading China’s Propaganda’.
The group also delivered hundreds of informational leaflets to residents in the area and to passers-by.
