A HAMPSHIRE lifeboat was called out to help stricken sailors whose motorboat had run aground this afternoon.
Hamble lifeboat was despatched to the waters near Hythe Marina after a pleasure craft had run aground on rocks nearby at about 1.05pm.
They were joined by Hampshire police’s marine unit and the coastguard to help them get the two people who had been driving the craft safely.
A pair of sailors were standing in the water “pushing the boat back to the marina” when the coastguard arrived.
A spokesman for UK coastguard said: “They were stood up in the water pushing the boat back.”
The motorboat and its crew were taken to Hythe marina. No one was injured in the event.
It is not known how the vessel ended up on rocks near the shore.
