A CAR fire on the motorway has caused delays for motorists this morning.
Fire engines from both Fareham and Hightown fire stations were called to the car fire at 7.10am this morning on the M27.
Initially three engines had been dispatched from Fareham to reports that a person was in the flaming vehicle between junctions eight for Hamble and nine for Whiteley on the eastbound carriageway.
However, the Fareham fire crews were turned back after the reports and the severity of the incident was downgraded.
The vehicle is now on the hard shoulder but the motorway is still slow heading eastbound from junction 7 for Hedge End.
