POLICE have found a woman's body in Southampton after concerns for her welfare.
Forensics teams were called to Myrtle Road, Lordshill, at 10.37am after neighbours said they had not seen the woman for days.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, Hampshire Constabulary said.
Neighbours Janet Cini and Tony Ankers, both retired, were used to regularly seeing the woman, who is believed to be in her sixties, but when they had not seen her for a month or so decided to inform local councillor Don Thomas, who lives on the same road.
Ms Cini, 74, said: "We realised we hadn't seen her for a while but thought she could be on holiday or with relatives.
"We've lived her for 18 years and I believe she moved into the house the year before us.
"She had no one living with her. She kept herself to herself."
After looking at the house himself, Cllr Thomas phoned the police.
He said: "It's an absolute tragedy. Nobody should be found on their own in those circumstances and I hope she's at peace. She had her routine - she used to pop up to Sainsbury's at eight o clock and then she would go round to the shops round the corner. But I hadn't seen her for at least ten days or two weeks. We're quite a close knit community."
