A CHEMICIAL spillage at a Hampshire hospital saw a women left in A&E.
Firefighters were called to Southampton General Hospital at 2.45pm today after reports of a cleaner being left injured when some detergent she was using in a mop and bucket reacted with a chemical on the floor before splashing on her.
It is believed the two chemicals created a corrosive-type substance.
Three fire engines, three special units and two fire service officers attended from Hightown, Romsey, Eastleigh, Cosham and Redbridge.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said all hazardous material incidents were treated in the same manner, no matter the scale.
He added when they arrived they checked the area was contained while hospital staff took the woman to A&E to be checked over - her injuries are not thought to be serious.
