IT HAS just come to my attention how serious the situation regarding the Hythe ferry is.
This vital service will close, it seems, in January, unless it is supported either by public investment on an increase in passenger numbers.
Quite why people don’t travel so much as they used to do is a mystery - surely it’s quicker access the water rather than going round by road.
Whatever the reason, wake up Southampton before we lost our lovely boat ride - once it’s gone it won’t come back.
David Willcock, Southampton.
