MAX the donkey was the star of the show as Winchester held its Palm Sunday procession today.
Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week and Easter, when churches throughout the world remember the central events of the Christian faith.
The congregation met at 10am at the Great Hall for a procession down the High Street when they were joined by Max the donkey marking Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
At the Cathedral there was a service of Sung Eucharist at 10.30, which is to be followed by Choral Evensong at 3.30pm.
Crowds watched the procession led by Max, which included city dignitaries such as City Mayor Jane Rutter who was accompanied by her official Mace Bearer.
