AN UNEXPLODED wartime bomb has been found on the Hampshire coast.
Hillhead Coastguard were alerted to the scene in Warsash by a member of the public who found a shell in the ground on the surf-line at around 10.15am this morning.
When the coastguard got to the scene they found the undetonated bomb lying on the ground.
Bomb disposal officers from the Royal Navy were called and at 2.30pm carried out a controlled explosion on the ground.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard said the bomb was either from the 1950s or World War Two.
Also patrolling was Hamble Lifeboat who managed to help secure an exclusion zone and ensured boats did not get too close to the scene.
