POLICE have confirmed a body has been found at Southampton Common.
It comes after organisers confirmed today's parkrun on Southampton Common had been cancelled following a 'serious incident'.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed officers are currently at the scene carrying out an investigation.
A spokesman said they were called at 8.54am after the body of a man was found in the Ornamental Lake, in the centre of the Common.
The spokesman had initially said the body was found by the lake, but has since corrected that.
He said the death was being treated as "unexplained but not suspicious". Officers are yet to released details of the man's identity.
This morning, parkrun organisers tweeted: "Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of our control, we were unable to hold today’s parkrun.
"This was due to a serious incident on another part of the Common and with the emergency vehicles requiring access, we made the decision to cancel the event."
It comes less than a month after a man's body was found a short distance away near the southern boundary.
As previously reported, a murder probe was launched after the body of 66-year-old Gerald Pragnell was discovered in woodland off Cemetery Road.
Earlier this month 34-year-old Tommy Scott, of no fixed address, appeared in court charged with his murder. His trial is expected to begin at Winchester Crown Court on April 23, 2019.
