FIREFIGHTERS were called this morning to a van fire in a village near Winchester.
A crew from Winchester tackled the fire that destroyed a Ford Transit parked on Downs Road, South Wonston at around 3am on Wednesday.
Firefighter Russ Timms said today: "It was on a driveway and parked near a house for security reasons.
"We had to pull it away after we extinguished the fire.
"We had to winch it away as there wasn’t much rubber left for the tyres."
The crew was on scene for around 90 minutes. The cause of the fire is thought to have been accidental.
