SHIRLEY High street was closed after a fire completely destroyed a motorcycle.
Firefighters from Redbridge fire station rushed to the scene of the fire after receiving an emergency call at 6.19pm.
One side of Shirley High Street was closed by emergency services near to the Park Street traffic lights.
One witness said: "I was working when I saw a big fire outside the shop. There were lots of police, an ambulance and some firefighters. I was scared because I thought the petrol tank was going to explode."
Motorists were advised to find alternative routes.
