A POLICE probe has been launched following reports of an explosion in a Hampshire town.
A 33-year-old woman was rushed to hospital last night with serious burn injuries.
Enquiries are underway to find the cause of the fire which broke out at a flat in Henry Player Avenue in Gosport.
Police officers have been working with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to examine the scene today (Tuesday 24 December).
Seven casualties were assessed for minor injuries and discharged at the scene by South Central Ambulance Service, with one casualty taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital.
Officers remain at the scene and a cordon is in place.

As reported previously six fire engines and around 30 firefighters rushed to battle the fire after receiving reports of an explosion at around 6pm on Monday.
Crews from Gosport, Fareham and Cosham Fire Stations attended the incident at the ground floor apartment which forms part of a two-storey property.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services have been urged people to avoid the area as fire engines and support vehicles including an aerial ladder platform remain on the scene.
