A MAN who committed arson at an Eastleigh school has been given a suspended sentence, because of his mental health condition.
Oliver John Turner set a fire at Shakespeare Junior School in Eastleigh.
The 22-year-old caused damage, estimated to be valued around £2,500, to kitchen equipment and the fabric of the building.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, Turner, of Warwick Road, Banbury, Oxfordshire, pleaded guilty to arson.
Magistrates decided to suspend his sentence due to his "immaturity and mental health conditions", on which he is being helped by a clinical psychologist.
He was given a four month sentence, which was suspended for 12 months.
He was also ordered to pay £2,406 in compensation to the school, which has around 350 students.
