A CAR fire "shook walls and windows" when it exploded on a Southampton street.
Fire crews and police were called to Grosvenor Road in Portswood yesterday at 3.06am to a car fire.
In a video, taken by Josh Tunstall, firefighters can be seen tackling the blaze.
He said that the "huge" explosion "shook the walls and windows" in his house.
The car was severely damaged by the fire and crews used one hose reel to extinguish it.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from St Mary’s was mobilised at 3.06am to Grosvenor Road.
"On arrival the car was well alight.
"The car was severely affected by fire and was extinguished using two breathing apparatus’ and one hose reel jet.
"Police were informed on the incident and the stop message came in at 3.30am".
The Daily Echo has contacted Hampshire Police for a comment and is waiting for a response.
