A KNIFE-WIELDING teen has been jailed after an ordeal which left his neighbours “scared and concerned for their safety”.
Andre Thomas has been described as “very erratic” and is known by his neighbours on Adelaide Road, Southampton, to “walk up and down shouting his head off”.
Appearing via video link before Southampton Crown Court the 18-year-old faced charges of affray and possession of a bladed article.
A father and his teenage son were loading up their vehicle on April 8 this year when Thomas approached them accusing them of staring at him - which they denied, the court heard.
Thomas went into his house to return brandishing a kitchen knife shouting “Come on. Come on”.
The father and son went into their house as they “did not want to be stabbed”.
But when they went back outside Thomas threatened them again saying: “Come on I want to kill you now.”
Thomas went back and forth into his house three times in total at one point holding a knife towards the sky. Neighbours eventually came outside with one calling the police.
A victim statement said: “I was scared for myself and also my neighbours. I felt so threatened.”
On witness said how Thomas regularly shouts at people in the street for no reason
He added how on April 9 he was at home with his wife and children when he saw Thomas carrying a nine-inch knife and another blade between five and six inches.
In a police statement, he said he was concerned for the safety of people in the road. And, that Thomas is very erratic and often walks up and down the street shouting his head off.
When the teen was arrested police seized a number of knives from his home including a large machete.
Thomas pleaded guilty to the charges against him and has been in police custody since April 9. He is currently at HM Prison Lewes.
Judge Peter Henry sentenced him to 12 months in a young offenders institution.
