PARENTS of children at a Southampton school have been warned that a person has tested positive for coronavirus.
Pupils at Shirley Warren Primary School who have been in close contact with the person affected have been told they must stay at home for 14 days.
Shirley Warren is the latest school in the Southampton area to be hit by a coronavirus alert.
In a letter to parents the head of Shirley Warren Learning Campus, Alison Mann, says: "We have been made aware of a member of our school community who has tested positive for Covid-19.
"We know you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.
"Please be assured that for most people coronavirus will be a mild illness.
"The small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus have received a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days.
"The school remains open and our child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well."
