A MAN has been airlifted to hospital with serious burns after a fire on board a boat in a Hampshire marina.
The blaze broke out on board the former sail training ship housed in the old RAF base in Hythe.
Plumes of smoke could be seen from the Fawley area following the incident which happened at around 1.45pm.
Firefighters responded to a 999 call and attended the scene in Hythe Marina, Shore Road.
Police say the boat is believed to be a former sail training ship was being refurbished.
The man on board was airlifted by Hampshire Air Ambulance shortly after 2pm and taken to Odstock Hospital in Salisbury.
