A van was destroyed after being engulfed in flames on a Southampton motorway yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters rushed to the M27 at around 2.30pm after being alerted to a van fire on the eastbound carriageway.
A picture sent by a witness shows flames ripping through the van between junctions 10 and 11 and thick, black smoke billowing into the sky.
Crews from Fareham and Wycombe put out the blaze, which destroyed the small white van, using hose heels.
They then handled the incident over to police.
The fire blocked one lane of the motorway and saw delays up to junction 8 which continued well into the evening.
No arrests were made and no injuries were reported.
