It's the perfect post for a seasoned Hampshire swimmer looking to 'scale up' the career ladder.
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is recruiting a Head of Mermaid Relations to help manage increased demand from visitors.
Following the huge box-office success of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, ‘Mermaidcore’ Tiktok trend and Netflix documentary series MerPeople, the visitor attraction has created the role to help train staff in response to a volume of increased enquiries from visitors about mermaids.

The organisation is seeking professional mermaids, mermen or merpeople. Applicants must be comfortable in costume, and have in depth mermaid knowledge.
But, due to Portsmouth being a working harbour, luring sailors off course will not be tolerated!
A wave of applications from adventurous sea lovers is expected.
Sharna Bennett, from Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, said: "The Mermaid theme has really made a splash this summer and we’ve seen huge increased demand from visitors wanting to know more about their favourite ocean characters."
