IT IS the bank holiday weekend and thousands will flock to Southampton for the city's pride event.

There's also plenty of festival fun and waterside activities to keep all the family entertained.

Here's our pick of the top things to do this weekend.

At Southampton Pride...

Daily Echo: A previous Southampton Pride

A drag queen star and a legendary noughties pop band are among acts performing at Southampton Pride this weekend.

Taking centre stage on Saturday, at Guildhall Square, the celebrations will showcase live music, outdoor stalls and performances following last year's successful event.

Pop group Liberty X are set to headline the event, minus their male counterparts, performing hits such as 'Just a Little'.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne also features, after withdrawing from pride last year.

Drag Syndrome, a troupe of fierce drag queens and kings with Down's Syndrome, also share top billing, challenging preconceptions about disability with their fabulous performances.

Gates open 11am to 10pm for the event, and the pride march begins from Queens Park at 11am.

Last year approximately 17,000 people attended the event in the city centre.

At Victorious Festival...

Around 70,000 people are set to attend between Friday and Sunday. See the full line-up here.

At CarFest...

Daily Echo: CarFest 2023 will be taking place this August

With music artists, stars, chefs, wellness experts and your favourite childhood celebrities and characters, CarFest returns to Laverstoke Park Farm at Overton in north Hampshire this weekend.

The home of ex-racing driver Jody Scheckter will host the likes of McFly, Anton du Beke, Boyzlife, Rob Brydon, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Feeling, and Razorlight.

Created by Chris Evans, to help raise funds for UK Children’s Charities, CarFest is the largest family fundraising festival in the UK.

At Riverside Park...

Daily Echo: Annual duck race at Riverside Park

Members of Swanwick and Eastleigh Lions are gearing up for their annual duck race on Bank Holiday Monday.

It’s the 35th time the event has taken place by the picturesque river setting, as thousands of plastic ducks are released from Mansbridge Bridge in a quacking race to the end of the river, in a fun day out for all the family.

The race is due to begin at 2.30pm.

The event is free to attend, but raffle tickets can be purchased on the day by visitors who can win prizes (such as gift vouchers) while also raising money for the charity that will be redistributed to help those in need in the local area.
