A woman has spoken of her horror after witnessing a fight on a train.
The journey from Southampton Central to Bournemouth on Saturday left passengers ‘traumatised’.
A group of girls were seen arguing with a family before a full-blown fight broke out in the carriage, the Echo has been told.
One woman, who did not want to be named, said she saw the girls ‘smack’ a woman over the head with their phones.
The Eastleigh resident said: “We were travelling to Bournemouth at around 11.30am on Saturday.
“There was a group of girls on the train that were being really loud, and they were really over the top in a carriage full of families.
“There was a family further down the same carriage as us and the group of girls, and who we think was the dad, told them to be quiet.
“The girls took real offence at that and before you know it, they were squaring up to one another.
“It all kicked off and there was a fight.”

The woman said it all happened very quickly.
The next thing she knew, a woman had her ‘head cracked open’ by the group of girls.
She said: “A girl tried to stick up for her dad and she came off far worse. There was blood everywhere.
“It was a really lovely summer’s day so there was a lot of families on the train, but it was all a bit traumatic.”
She added: “Me and some of my friends gave her a towel, drinks and food as she was crying.
“The towel helped to slow down the bleeding.”
