A DRIVER has been jailed after a teenage cyclist was left fighting for his life following a hit-and-run in Southampton.
Vinny Pomery, 25, was jailed for 24 weeks after the incident on Commercial Road in May last year.
He had been behind the wheel of a Ford Kuga at the time when he hit the 17-year-old boy at around 12.13am on May 8, 2022.
The boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Pomery, of Beacon Close, Rownhams, went on to plead guilty to failing to stop after a road accident, two counts of driving without insurance, two counts of driving without a licence and using a vehicle likely to cause danger of injury.
He also admitted further charges of driving without insurance, driving without a licence and drink driving relating to a separate incident on Kings Park Road on July 27 this year.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, he was also banned from driving for three years.
Pomery must pay a £156 surcharge by January 2, 2024.
