I read the original article with disappointment in the attitude of the mother in the article, “Mum removes son from school prison”.

To my mind, she was encouraging a total disregard in her son for the school’s, and any other establishment’s, authority which is not acceptable.

The rules are there for a reason, not just discipline, but to promote good behaviour and a personal respect for oneself and others.

Lessons to carry through your experiences in life socially, environmentally, academically and in the workplace.

With that comes a freedom of confidence and self-belief to become the best you can. Well done, Romsey School. Stick to your principles.

Pupils will look back at their time with you and hopefully understand where you are coming from and be grateful.
