A five-year-old eco warrior has completed his latest environmental mission to stop hundreds of empty plastic chocolate and sweet tubs from being sent to landfill.
Teddy Michaelides, from Netley, was disgusted at the thought of the confectionery tubs he saw stacked high in the supermarkets at Christmas having a negative effect on our environment once discarded and decided to take a leaf out of the book of his real-life superhero, environmentalist Sir David Attenborough, and take action to help the planet.
Teddy, who dressed up as the legendary broadcaster during superhero day at school, decided to raise awareness amongst his family and friends and set himself a target to collect 100 tubs to recycle responsibly through the 'Tubs to Pubs' scheme, which also raises money for cancer care charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

By making videos for social media, sharing his plan with friends and family and setting up a tin donation point at school, Teddy's collection started to grow. After a month of collecting wherever he goes, Teddy has now handed over his haul of 331 tubs.
Teddy told the Daily Echo: "I can’t believe all this plastic was never going to be reused and would end up in the our oceans or in landfill. That is so unfair on our planet. Imagine if animals get stuck in bits of plastic, that’s just disgusting. A life without nature is not a happy one at all."
Passionate about animal protection, Teddy does whatever he can to help, previously walking 5K to raise money for the WWF, sharing his ideas and making videos and posters.
“One day I will help the whole world look after our precious planet just like David Attenborough because we need to stop deforestation and stop the planet getting warmer," he added.
Teddy's family are so proud of him, standing up for a cause he believes in at such a young age.
He is astounded by his own achievements, telling mum Laura: "I got this many and I’m just a kid! I told you mummy, it’s never too late to make a change!"
