A Southampton thief stole bank cards from a car before trying to buy more than £50 of goods from Co-Op.
Connor Matthews, 26, stole a wallet and cards from the vehicle in Southampton on August 11 last year.
That same day, he tried to buy £51.20 worth of items from a Co-Op store using a stolen card.
Matthews, of Northam Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation and theft from a motor vehicle.

He also admitted charges of failing to surrender to bail, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and possessing a controlled drug of Class B, namely cannabis.
All of the offences took place between June and November 2023.
Matthews was jailed for 18 weeks at Southampton Magistrates' Court.
He was ordered to pay £100 compensation and was banned from driving for 18 months.
An order was made for the forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis.
