When Saints went to Vicarage Road in the 1987/88 season, the pressure was off - they hadn’t lost against Watford in their last six meetings.
Only one goal separated the teams in the Division 1 clash on March 5, 1988, a strike from Southampton defender Kevin Moore.
And that goal was the one that took them unbeaten against Watford in seven.
Chris Nicholl’s starting eleven consisted of John Burridge, Gerry Forrest. Kevin Bond, Kevin Moore, Derek Statham, Jimmy Case, Glenn Cockerill, Andy Townsend, Matt Le Tissier, Colin Clarke and Danny Wallace.
