Police have detained a teenager after a group of youths were pointing catapults at homes and animals on a popular dog-walking trail.
On Sunday, April 7, officers in Hedge End responded to reports that a group of teens were in possession of slingshots in Shamblehurst Lane – a popular dog walking trail.
When the police officers arrived on scene, the group hastily disbanded in different directions.
One of the teens was caught by police and found to be in possession of two catapults and a large amount of ball bearings.
One of the officers involved wrote on Facebook: “Officers from Hedge End North Neighbourhood Policing Team responded to reports of youths in possession of catapults, pointing these towards properties and animals.
“Officers spotted the group but they all they ran in different directions.
“We detained one of the males.
“The male was searched and found to be in possession of two catapults and a large quantity of metal ball bearings.
“Items were seized and will be disposed of.”
