Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has made an arrest in a four-year-old case.

The arrest relates to an attempted burglary on Victoria Road in Woolston sometime between October 18, 2020, and October 20, 2020.

The window of a house was smashed in what officers believe was an attempt to gain entry to the property. Nothing was taken and no-one was injured during the incident.

Officers have been carrying out new DNA analysis from the scene of the offence, which led to the arrest of the man on Thursday morning, April 18, in Bitterne.

The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and has since been released from police custody on conditional bail to allow for further enquiries to take place.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “Our investigation into this incident remains ongoing and we hope that this update demonstrates how we won't stop trying to get justice for victims of crime, no matter when the offence took place.
